This officially marks the second outing into the Cyprus Perspec
tive section of TW Web Design. As I have said before, this is only a guide, and should not be followed to the letter.
Step 1 Domain
When purchasing a domain for any business, regardless of what industry you are in, there are two very important factors to take into account:
1. Company name – if you offer professional services, and have extensive offline exposure, you primary focus when buying a domain is to follow your company name. Having a domain name that matches your company name is vital for companies with major offline exposure, as many people will go into their browser and type in yourcompanyname.com. Therefore having that specific domain is an important factor for you.
2. Search Engine Friendliness – if you do not operate offline, or have a very limited amount of offline exposure, going for a search engine friendly domain is important. Search engine friendly domains are domains that revolve more around your company’s top keywords, rather than your company’s name. This will automatically help to boost the search engine rankings of your site for the keywords that are contained in your domain name.
Once you have considered the naming factor the only other factor when considering domain name is what your domain extension will be. For specific target countries, it is better to get a specific domain extension, for example (.co.uk) for companies in the United Kingdom, (.ie) for Irish Companies, (.co.za) for South African companies and (.com.cy) For Cyprus companies. However getting a country specific domain extension will generally cost you more than getting an international domain extension (.com). For any company looking to go online, we recommend going for the (.com) domain, unless it is not available, however most of the time when we purchase domains for customers, in order to target the Cyprus market more, we always include the word Cyprus in our domain name, making it search engine friendly for the keyword Cyprus.

Step 2 Hosting
Hosting is a lot easier choice when it comes to getting a website online, definitely far easier than choosing a domain. Hosting can most likely be bought from the company that registers your domains for you. Choosing hosting is simple, find someone that offers you what you need in regards to Databases, disc space and bandwidth, and one that also offers you what you need in regards to compatibility. Make sure that they offer it to you at a price that is suitable for you, and then pay for it. One thing to look out for is discounts for paying for a year up front. This is always ideal, as it offers you the chance to make a small saving, but it also guarantees that your site will be hosted for at least one year.
Step 3 Design

This website will not display prices, as you want the potential clients to contact you directly rather than finding the price online and looking elsewhere. This gives you the opportunity to build up a massive client database that is aimed specifically at your target market. It also allows you to potentially cross market to this database with other high-end luxury items.
Design 2:
Design two is based around selling second hand cars to anyone who is interested in buying them. This design will have a more cluttered homepage, with featured cars on the homepage, as well as a fully function advanced search section, allowing your customers to search for specific cars. This site will include prices for cars, as the database of cars will be larger; allow far more choice for potential customers. It will also allow account creation on the site to post cars for sale, or to contact sellers of cars directly, enabling you to build up a database of many different demographical customers, allowing you to cross market to them based on demographical statistics.
This functionality of this site will mainly be on the back end, with a far more advanced search and membership function than design one, with just basic pictures and information being displayed for each car.
The choice of design will be based entirely on what you hope to achieve with your company selling cars online in Cyprus. It will also depend on whether you have an offline car dealership, or whether you specific target is to be based online entirely.
